Skanska provided construction management services for the new 70,000 square-foot, three-story, state-of-the-art high school. Science and technology are the focus curriculum of the school, which is located adjacent to the existing New London High School property.With a student population of 300, The new Science and Technology Magnet High School utilizes a structural steel design with an exterior curtain wall system and has exterior stairwells located on three of the four corners. One of the corners houses new learning areas that also have access to the interior space of the school. State-of-the-art computers and telecommunication systems are integrated into the building to provide a truly modern and futuristic facility that benefits the city of New London and all surrounding areas. The project included providing parking and emergency access routes. Skanska also provided preconstruction services for the project, including full estimating services, scheduling, value engineering, constructability reviews as well as full procurement phase services.
