The project was executed in five stages, each divided into smaller contracts. In 2003-2006 Skanska built over 2 km of the route. The project consisted of three independent contracts, including two sections of stage 1 (395 and 696 m in length) and stage 2 (960 m). Each of the by-pass sections was completed before deadline - sections I and II 6 weeks and section III 3 months before deadline. Moreover, works on sections II and III were co-ordinated in such a way so as to realize share zones first. Thanks to this drivers could use section III already in December 2005, i.e. 11 months before the planned deadline. In spring 2006 we continued realization of finishing works which did not disturb the traffic.
Realization of the investment was aimed at relieving the congestion in the town centre by means of constructing additional carriageway cross the Wisłok river and connecting roundabout at Lwowska streetwith Siemieńskiego and Lubelska streets and international road E-40 with state roads No 9 and 19. In the future the bypass will enable convenient access to the designed A4 motorway and S-19 express road.
Benefits for the community
The bypass helped to reduce the traffic in the downtown and in the narrow streets of Pobitno and Załęże residential estates.
The three sections completed by Skanska helped freeing approx. 50 ha of land in the north-east part of Rzeszów for future development.
