MOLecoLAB - Centre for Molecular Research of Civilisation Diseases in city Lodz is a modern passive building located on the campus of the Clinical and Didactic Centre of Lodz Medical University. It includes a complex of scientific and research laboratories, which enable effective support for the commercialisation of the University's R&D activities.
It will use renewable energy sources and equipment with increased energy-saving parameters. The laboratories will be used for research and development, design of innovative diagnostic and therapeutic products and services, as well as for cooperation with industry at national and international level.
We have installed photovoltaic panels with a capacity of 118 kWp on the façade and roof, which will provide part of the building's energy needs. We also installed a trigeneration system in the building, which uses chemical energy from natural gas to produce electricity, heating and cooling. Under the building we have installed a geothermal heat exchanger. The passive effect was also achieved through the use of a number of other solutions, such as the appropriate shape of the building, compact and simple design, south-facing windows, high thermal insulation of all partitions and external joinery, elimination of thermal bridges, high airtightness of the building, high-performance ventilation system with heat recovery and energy-saving LED lighting.
