Skanska provided preconstruction and construction management services for American University's signature East Campus project consisting of five buildings three residence halls and two buildings devoted primarily to academic and administrative purposes. Located across from Main Campus the project provides 300 000-SF of above-grade space and 100 000-SF of below-grade parking. Buildings one two and three offer 590 residence hall beds with private baths. Residential floors each include a shared kitchen trash laundry and study facilities. Buildings four and six supply graduate and adult education space and campus support facilities including retail food services residential support and meeting space as well as the new campus security command center. Skanska's preconstruction services included extensive program cost and permitting strategies and fast-track solutions supporting Lean construction project delivery. This project is awaiting LEED Gold certification.
