On this day five years ago, we publicly launched the Embodied Carbon in Construction Calculator (EC3) tool in partnership with
@Microsoft, the
@University of Washington and
@C Change Labs. Since then, we have used the EC3 tool to identify lower-carbon product alternatives to avoid the equivalent of 8,430 metric tons of carbon emissions on Skanska projects.

Today, thousands of designers, builders, and building owners and operators use the tool, which is made available through
@Building Transparency, a US-based non-profit organization.
