In October 2012 Skanska completed reconstruction works at the waste water treatment plant in Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski. Modernization of the plant was necessary due to the increasing amount of waste water generated by the growing number of inhabitants as well as the development of the town and the neighboring urban communes. Thanks to the investment worth PLN 28 m net, waste water treatment plant in Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski is now one of the few state-of-the-art objects in the Świętokrzyskie voivodeship. At the moment, flow capacity of the modernized facility amounts up to 16,800 cubic meters per day.
All types of works were carried out on the operating plant, which was an additional impediment to the realization team. Appropriate organization of work was extremely important. During renovation works at pumping stations with first and second stage pumps, waste water had to be pumped with the use of external mobile pumps.
The contract covered development of design documentation, dismantling of fourteen existing facilities as well as modernization of thirty worn out facilities, which were cleaned, renovated and equipped with state-of-the-art appliances. The investment also included construction of six new facilities together with new biogas tank, additional digestion chamber, two-chamber longitudinal grit chamber as well as sludge thickening, dewatering, disintegration and hygienization plant.
Administrative facility houses the „core” of the waste water treatment plant, i.e. electronic control center for the purpose of monitoring all facilities. Our task also included realization of land development works including internal roads, walkways, lighting and planting.
