Skanska was awarded a $79.1 million contract to rebuild 4,230 linear feet of Norfolk International Terminals.
The project was organized in four stages, including the demolition of approximately 185,000 square feet of existing concrete wharf and the supporting concrete piles and 190,000 square feet of asphalt concrete paving. Skanska also removed underground utilities and disposed of four 50-foot gage container cranes.
Skanska then installed:
· pre-cast concrete piles
· sheet piling
· a cast-in-place concrete wharf structure
· asphalt concrete pavement
To complete the project, Skanska installed and relocated utilities and performed other minor tasks.
