In 2010 Skanska realized the connection between Ofiar Katynia and Kotuli streets in Rzeszów. Thanks to this project drivers, pedestrians, cycl,ist and the disabled gained a grade-separated connection between two large housing estates in Rzeszów: Krakowska Południe and Baranówka. The investment, valued at almost 9 m PLN included design and construction of a viaduct in the route of Krakowska street which is the outgoing road to Kraków. Under the new viaduct we realized a section of street connecting the two housing estates. The underpass was handed over for use two weeks before the deadline stipulated in the contract.
Benefits for the community
Thanks to this investment two large housing estates in Rzeszów gained a very convenient road connection. Drivers are now able to bypass the dangerous crossing of housing estate internal roads with a very busy state road No 4 and reach quickly the shopping centre "Nowy Świat" opened at the end of 2009.
The investment also included realization of a few solutions improving accessibility of the shopping centre for pedestrians. On both sides of the viaduct we constructed staircases and installed lifts for the disabled. It is the first facility of this type in Rzeszów.
