Before we started realization works, the bed of the Nysa Kłodzka river was strongly silted up above the level of solid weir. The river had at that time flow capacity of 70÷80m³/s. Flows of the velocity 160÷170m³/s would burst the banks, flooding at the same time the adjoining territories, whereas flows amounting to 350÷400m³/s resulted in flooding the whole river valley, causing serious damages in Lewin and neighbouring villages. Our works were aimed at unblocking and reconstruction of the hydrotechnical system of the Nysa Kłodzka river in Lewin Brzeski. After the bed and inter-levee zone of the Nysa Kłodzka river together with flood control channel in the hydrotechnical system in Lewin Brzeski (11 km from the mouth of the Odra river) have been adapted to safe level of flood flow of 800 m3/s, most of the water will flow through bipartite bed of the Nysa river. The rest will be taken over by the flood control channel.
