The beginnings of Rzeszów airport date back to the year 1940. It is the only international airport in the region of Podkarpacie. The Rzeszów airport is called "good weather airport" and is furnished with state-of-the-art navigation systems as well as one of the longest runways in Poland which enables operation of every type of airplane, including Boeing 747. The airport in Jasionka was recognized by UEFA as an alternate airport for Lviv and Warsaw for the period of EURO 2012.
Current airport infrastructure - the existing apron of more than 1 hectare - was sufficient to handle three mid-size passenger airplanes only. The intended extension of the whole airport, including realization of a new passenger terminal, as well as constantly increasing number of passengers and connections operated by the airport in Jasionka brought about the necessity of extending the "parking" infrastructure of the airport.
Benefits for the community
The investment worth over PLN 35 m gross was crucial for improving airport capacity. Currently the Rzeszów-Jasionka airport features a plane with the surface of almost 8 hetares, which enables handling and servicing of even 15 aircrafts at the same time. Now the airport in Jasionka can compete with Kraków-Balice airport, which - featuring 18 parking places - may take in 3 more aircrafts. Extension of the parking infrastructure at the airport in Jasionka will contribute to further increase in the number of operated airplane connections and economic development of the whole region.
Unusual guest at Jasionka airport
The plane was subject to its first “parking lot” test already within less than 6 hours after investment completion ceremony had been finished. At that time the airport in Jasionka took in Rusłan An-124, second largest transport aircraft in the world. The flying giant with the weight of 177 tons parked on the plane realized by our company, which withstood the load of this oversized visitor.
