The revitalization of LK 117 between Wadowice and Andrychów, which we carried out, included the reconstruction of 12 km of railroad track, the construction of a passing station in Barwald Średni and a station in Andrychów. We are currently still carrying out the reconstruction of 2 km of roads around the project.
The project was comprehensive and involved track and traction industries (rebuilding the traction on 16 km), installation of railroad traffic control devices, construction of 7 platforms, reconstruction of 35 engineering structures, reconstruction and removal of 44 road crossings.
From an engineering point of view, the challenge was the construction of two tracks and 2 platforms in difficult terrain conditions, requiring the reprofiling of a rocky slope up to a height of 14 meters.
Krakow-Wadowice-Bielsko-Biala trains returned to the revitalized railroad line. The effect of the construction of the passing station in Barwald Średni will be shorter travel time by several minutes - until now the line was single-track in this place. Increased track capacity also gives rail carriers the opportunity to launch additional connections from Cracow to Podbeskidzie.
Railroad crossings have become safer. Travel comfort has also increased due to new platforms and a station in Andrychów.
