The primary purpose of the investment was to build flood protection in the form of an anti-flood screen with a depth of up to 14m and a retaining wall along the Praga waterfront founded on it.
The wall was connected to the flood control gate at the entrance to the Praga Port and to the Golędzin embankment on the north side of the Gdansk Bridge. Thanks to its construction, the flood protection of Praga-North gained continuity. The flood protection system consisted of an anti-filtration screen, a retaining wall (reinforced concrete) along the road, and a stone erratic on the river side.
The investment included the expansion of Wybrzeże Szczecińskie and Helskie Streets along a 2.2 km section from the Okrzei Street area to the Gdański Bridge. The existing number of lanes was maintained, i.e. one in the direction of the city center and two in the direction of the Gdański bridge.
Along the road we planted more than 40 thousand shrubs and perennials and 120 trees, among which pedunculate oaks, silver lindens and common hornbeams dominate. The flood control wall was planted with seedlings of common ivy.
In addition, the work we carried out also included the reconstruction of water, electricity and telecommunications networks, as well as the construction of street lighting and traffic lights.
