Skanska signed a contract for construction of S-8 road on the section from Oleśnica to Syców. The contract is valued at more than PLN 468,6 m. The investment has been planned to be completed before May 2012.
Skanska – a construction company will realize S-8 expressway on the section Oleśnica –Syców. General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways is the Client. The gross value of the contract amounts to more than PLN 468,6 m. Completion of works has been planned for May 2012, i.e. 30 months from the date of signing of the contract. Scope of works - Our task will consist of realizing more than 25 km of S-8 expressway on the section from the „Cieśle” junction in the vicinity of Oleśnica to the „Syców Wschód” junction as well as developing working design for all types of works — says Bogdan Rytwiński, Skanska Road and Bridge Construction Branch in Wrocław. – We will realize a 19,5 – kilometer section of road along a new track and we will add the second lane to the already existing Syców by-pass. The following 3 new junctions will be built: „Szczodrów”, „Syców West” and „Syców East”, and the „Cieśle” junction will be extended.
On the developed area we will realize 4 motorway stations. In total, we will erect 18 overbridges, including 5 within S-8 expressway path and 13 over its path. We will build 12 steel culverts for animals alongside the whole Road section. The contract also covers erection and reconstruction of land development together with ditch dewatering system, storm and rainwater sewerage system, retention and infiltration tanks and preliminary water treatment facilities. Safety - In order to protect drivers’ safety, the new road will be fenced on its whole length and equipped with safety fences - says Tomasz Dereń, Project Manager from Road and Bridge Construction Branch Skanska in Wrocław. – We will also install acoustic baffles of varied height from 4 to 8 meters and road junctions, motorway stations and overcrossings will be illuminated. An experienced company Skanska has built roads, bridges and cubature objects in Wrocław for many years. Among the reconstructed and rebuilt objects are the following: Powstańców Wielkopolskich Square, John Paul II Square, Szczytnicki Bridge and Lotnicza Street. We were the general contractor of the Millenium Bridge, Bielany Shopping Park, Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences and office complex Grunwaldzki Center at Grunwaldzki Square, which houses Skanska’s Wrocław branch offices. At the moment we are realizing North Downtown By-pass of Wrocław, its connection to the airport and I section of A-4 S-8 Agglomeration Connector, so-called eastern by-pass of Wrocław. Among the by-passes realized by Skanska are those of Oleśnica, Żmigród, Zgorzelec and Bielawa.
